Every drill on this site is rehearsal. The performance is your stream, and the only feedback that ultimately matters is what your voice actually did when a raid hit and chat went vertical. The lab is where you collect it.
Why delayed feedback wins
Judging your voice while you stream is like judging your aim mid-flick — the part of you that performs and the part that evaluates get in each other’s way. Worse, the in-the-moment impression is unreliable: everyone hates their voice live and on first listen; it’s wired into how you hear yourself.
A few days of distance fixes both problems. The VOD you cringed at on Tuesday is, by Friday, just audio — and suddenly you can hear what a viewer hears: where the energy sagged, where the words smeared, where that one hype call landed perfectly. Summary feedback, collected calmly, once a week, beats a running self-commentary every time. That’s the whole lab.
The protocol
Once a week, five minutes, eyes closed:
Pick a random five-minute VOD segment — random matters, because your memory of “the good part” is a curated highlight reel. Listen without watching; the game footage will hijack your attention and you’re here for the audio. Then write down exactly two things: one thing that worked and one thing to fix. Not five. Two. Finish by picking next week’s focus drill based on the fix.
That last step closes the loop that makes the whole path self-steering: mumbly callouts send you back to the twister deck, a flat hour sends you to the dealer, running out of air mid-rant books you a session of one-breath sentences. The lab diagnoses; the modules prescribe.
One win, one fix — in that order
The order isn’t decoration. Streamers doing self-review reliably over-index on flaws, and a review habit that’s all punishment dies in three weeks. The win is real information too: it tells you what to do more of, and it keeps the habit something you don’t dread. If you genuinely can’t find a win in a segment, you picked a hard segment — good — but find the win anyway. There is one.
This module never completes
There’s no check to pass and no transfer task, because the lab is the transfer — the permanent bridge between practice and performance. Streaks track the daily warm-up; the lab runs on a slower clock. Same day each week helps (VOD review Sunday has a ring to it), and the streak engine quietly earns you a repair token for consistency anyway.
Six months from now, the drills you’ll need are the ones your own VODs point at. The lab is how the syllabus keeps being about you.
